Last weekend, HVEF! attended the infamous Clearwater Festival at Croton Point Park on the Hudson River. We set up a table with Earth First! merch and had a tree climbing area in two huge Cottonwood trees behind our table.
Inspired by Pete Seegers desire to clean up the river over forty years ago, the festival hosts diverse music, dance, storytelling and family-oriented programming as well as juried crafts, the Green Living Expo, the Working Waterfront with small boat exhibits and rides, an artisanal food & farm market, environmental education displays and exhibits, and the Circle of Song where audience participation is the focus – See more at: http://www.clearwaterfestival.org/festival-info/about-the-festival/#sthash.VxiqdTrB.dpuf
It was a really special experience at an awesome location and in the activst center of the festival alongside so many great organizations and movements. Throughout the weekend, we made new friends, saw old ones, introduced new people to EF!, debated theory & tactics, and managed to train eight people how to tree climb. Overall, it was a great weekend and we plan to attend again next year! Thank you Sue and Roy for all your help!
