Update 10/1: We arrived on Jacobs road in Minisink NY at 7am this morning alongside Minisink residents and others , awaiting construction vehicles for the Minisink Compression station project to begin surveying, tree clearing and other preparation for more heavy work to begin over the next week. We held the front of the road, blocking the entrance to the site all morning turning away construction vehicles and shouting down Millennium and their cronies for trying to destroy the community. Meanwhile, confused state police, unsure of how to deal with us told us to stay out of the middle of jacobs road, but left us in front of the driveway to the site and finally left with the other construction vehicles.
Around 12pm Orange County Sheriffs appeared along with the construction folks and a father of 2 was arrested for refusing to leave the driveway. Other people were drageged off the driveway but weren’t arrested. This effectively dispersed the crowd, allowing a dozen or so trucks and cars to enter the site to begin surveying, putting up posted signs and bringing in gravel for the expanded road. We stayed around for a few more hours, watching them, yelling, chanting and publicly shaming their attack on Minisink. We attempted to get proof of landownership, deeds and permits for their work that day talking to police, company officials and security. Around 2:30pm they started to pack it up for the day and many folks left. Channel 12 news was there to cover the story for most of the day and plan to be back on Tuesday.
WE SUCCESSFULLY BLOCKED CONSTRUCTION FOR HALF A DAY! THIS SET A PRECEDENT IN ORANGE COUNTY AND IS JUST THE BEGINNING!
No Compressor Station!
